Robot Thursday

Why not. So here is a blog I found that is about paper figures and what have you. It's got some cool stuff.

My Business Card is a Ball of Putty

I swear, this is my last post . . . and the fact that it was on Design Observer today? Mere coincidence, b/c I actually had it forwarded to me by my best friend today:

robot gift ideas

His name's Albert, he's a coat hanger . . . and I love him.

Reason #79 for why I'm not a cat person . . . especially not a genetically altered cat person.

Pantone Painting

Check this out this British designer's redo of Manet's "Bar at the Folies Bergere" made with Pantone chips! He also has some interesting card-board furniture on his site . . . but this was my favorite. You can click the picture to get to the site, or cut and paste this: http://www.timfraserbrown.co.uk/

A gift from Cranbrook…

Joe got up Sunday Morning to discover this nice gift from our new friends at Cranbrook 2D Department. We had wonderful time hanging out and practicing our breakout work shop, Option Shift Lose Control.

In Raleigh they serve…

We have been discussing how to disseminate all of our great snap shots from the NCSU trip . I am just going to start with this gem. There will be plenty of these photos to come and discuss at a later time. Yes they have HOT WEINERS…

How YOU doin'?

Look what my friend forwarded me today–pretty nifty, no? There are Manhattan, Chicago, Boston, and San Fran posters, too . . . well, they're on the way. Check 'em out here: http://orkposters.com/

anothe book blog...

Going along with Kelly's post, check out the Covers Blog by the design firm FWIS. This has gotten pretty popular, and one of the papers in NYC has added them to their books and literature page to do cover reviews as well.

They're firm website is pretty cool too... www.fwis.com. I like the way they so easily display all of their work

The secret ingredient is nonsense phrases.

Calendars are pretty terrible except when they aren't.

Books, books, books

And here is a nifty book site I found Friday . . . you probably won't want anything to do with it tonight, but when you get around to thinking about our LAST book, it could be a handy bit of inspiration:

type + ceramics = brilliant

Check out this great artist I just found! Her work is gorgeous! She has some great blackletter sculptures, and I love some of the lettering she employs on other pieces —the "Do you want to boogie woogie?" pitcher is especially great. But couldn't you see this piece on my mantle, you know, if I had one?

"Accident"

Kelly must be trying to keep herself from getting a fingernail STD or something, 'cause she's been wearing these finger-condoms all day... as it turns out she should have bought the x-large...

Yum, Pie!

It looks like delicious, bloody, spaghetti pie, yummy. It is really some sort of weird flower arrangement on a basement windowsill.

Joyce

OK, the whole bad album cover thing isn't new, but these still made me laugh and wonder, is that THE Joyce of "Joyce Unplugged"?! One can only hope.

NPR Song Project with Stephin Merrit

Given a number of photos and words to choose from , Merritt had 2 days to record a song coupling one image and word. The entire process is documented and the song is pretty good. Also get ready for a new Magnetic Fields album Jan 15.

The Metric System is for Canadians

Really nice thesis project from the Designer as Author MFA program at SVA. Danny DeVito is a tiny, tiny man. And Tom Hanks? America's sweetheart.

Our awesome books

More pictures of our awesome books from letterpress.

This one's for Tony

Another prideful decoration from my home. I respect Tony greatly for not trusting non-drinkers. It makes good sense!

My new fighting technique is unstoppable.

This has been proudly protecting me for the last few years. I wonder why he hates karate so much? I don't know if kicks can possibly defeat rainbow lasers....

Robots sad in Korea too

Some pretty sad looking robots at the Robot Museum in Korea. They look almost as sad as I was to be there. The weird pinocchio noses are the best. Such sad little lying Korean robots.

Lady.

I think I mentioned this little gem to someone- Its a velvet painting of Kenny Rogers that I got for Christmas one year. I like to think that we watches over me and keeps me safe.

C'mon...

Joe learns the California Job Case the hard way.

The Robots are sad. They live in Mobos.

Hello everybody!

The blog is up! Woo-hoo!!!!! I think I officially win the Super Nice Human Award for the week. Feel free to reward me with anything but a Mobo. Or a Peace Pack.
